I am a retired Engineering Fellow of Caltech’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. I have forty years of spacecraft development experience spanning concept development and architecture through implementation and verification. I have been successful in leading teams doing complex developments across the spectrum of spacecraft elements including project system engineering, flight system system engineering, avionics system design and development, systems and applications software conception and implementation, software and systems team technical management, autonomy, architected fault and failure resilience, flight and ground decomposition, distributed systems, operating systems, real-time systems, fault tolerant system architecture, embedded software, spacecraft flight software, verification strategies, and spacecraft test systems.
Developing spacecraft is hard. Having the foresight to anticipate the development challenges and then to avoid or address those challenges with solutions that are known to work is the result of experience, lessons learned, successes, and failures.
My role in your venture is to provide a backbone of experience to help guide your development and mentor your teams so they can be successful without relearning the history of a generation (or three) of spacecraft developers. My contribution is supplying expertise and guidance whether it be for the architectural challenges early in development or in providing review and technical insight throughout the development flow.
